New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said on Tuesday that if political parties distribute money during elections, people should take it and use that "haram" (forbidden) money to build toilets.

What advise did Owaisi give to people?

Addressing a rally in Latur district of Maharashtra in connection with the upcoming Latur Municipal Corporation elections, Owaisi also attacked the Narendra Modi government over its foreign policy. He also criticized the Waqf (Amendment) Act.

“With AIMIM entering the electoral fray, rival political parties have started distributing cash among voters. If we hadn't fielded candidates, the money wouldn't have been distributed... Take the money, and if you think it is unethical and 'haram' (illegal), then use it to build toilets,” he said.

Owaisi called upon Muslims to build strong political leadership, saying it is unfortunate that every community except minorities has political power. He said that Dalits and Muslims constitute a large part of the poor population, but development has not yet reached their areas.

“The BJP talks about nationalism, but farmers are dying, youth are unemployed, and they only talk about love jihad,” the MP said.

What did Owaisi say about PM Modi?

Owaisi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP are silent on US President Donald Trump, “who says in an airplane that Modi takes decisions to please me.”

Owaisi claimed that the number of beneficiaries of the Maharashtra government's 'Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme is continuously decreasing.

“The government has taken a loan of Rs 9.30 lakh crore. Who will repay this loan?” he asked.

What were his remarks on Ajit Pawar?

The AIMIM chief also targeted Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

“A person who was not loyal to his uncle and political guru Sharad Pawar, how can he be loyal to the people?” Owaisi said.

What is Owaisi’s take on the Waqf (Amendment) Act?

On the Waqf (Amendment) Act, Owaisi alleged that the law is being misused to close mosques and challenge the ownership of centuries-old dargahs.

Hyderabad MP Owaisi questioned the circumstances surrounding the death of a convict in the 2006 Mumbai train bombings while in jail.

"Around 185 people lost their lives in the 2006 Mumbai train bombings, following which 11 Muslims were arrested. They spent 19 years in jail (before being acquitted by the court). One of them died, but no one is willing to say how he died," he alleged.
